In Beijing on the 28th of January 1999, a solemn ceremony took place to honour the tenth anniversary of the passing of His Holiness the 10th Panchen Lama. Many authorities of the Central Chinese Government and of the Provincial Government of Tibet were present, as well as many religious personalities, including H.H. the 11th Panchen Lama, H.H.the 17th Karmarpa, Jamyang Shapel Rinpoche, Natsa Rinpoche, Choxi Rinpoche, the Abbot of the Yonghegong Monastery. Among those who spoke at this unprecedented event, were the mother, the wife and the daughter of the 10th Panchen Lama.
