«How to mediate»

Peace Education courses in Tuscany and Milan start in April

Peace Times 10

Professor Daffern from England: «personal and social conflicts can be healed by combining ancient and modern philosophical and spiritual techniques»

«By working as peace mediators we can learn to heal any conflicts, using the planet’s spiritual values and wisdom teachings, and so learn to create a world based on love instead of fear». Dr Thomas C. Daffern, director of the International Institute of Peace Studies and Global Philosophy and coordinator of the Multifaith and Multicultural Mediation Service, spoke thus about his course in Peace Mediation and Peace Philosophy which will start in April and continue through till October. This unique training opportunity is organised by Global Village in Bagni di Lucca, Tuscany (Italy). It is open to all those with a sincere interest and is also an ideal course for students undertaking higher university degrees in relevant disciplines: drawing both from the world’s spiritual and philosophical teachings and from the latest training techniques, in active listening, communication and transpersonal psychology. It will equip participants to become effective peace mediators and counsellors in conflict situations which arise in their own lives, in the workplace, in family settings, and also to play a part in the international work of peace mediation.

Dr Daffern has studied extensively the history of medicine, the philosophy of healing and transpersonal psychology, and will therefore also teach a ten week study course in Global Philosophy, Global Self-Healing and self-education to run concurrently in Milan, organised by the Kunpen Lama Gangchen Institute: a course combining a historical survey of the medical ideas of different world cultures and religions, with a study of philosophical ideas at the forefront of modern Western medical theory.

Dr Daffern told : Iin order to achieve global peace the one to one healing of all of us as individuals is also a pre-requisite». He added «These courses on the history of medicine and healing will emphasise above all the links between peace and healing».

One of the unique features of the course is the combination of research into the world’s various esoteric healing and philosophical and religious systems, as well as the combination of attention to primal or ancient healing ideas and modern scientific practices.
