Tchulen, healing with flowers

How to regenerate body and mind with an ancient Tibetan practice

Peace Times 12

There is an ancient practice in Tibetan buddhism which is specifically designed to regenerate body and mind, it is known as Tchulen, which literally means «gather the essence of flowers» and consists in following a vegetarian diet for a few days, towards gradually substituting food for an infusion made with the petals of Himalayan flowers, before resuming a vegetarian diet and then a normal diet. Following extensive learning from different Tibetan lamas since 1983, Claudio Cipullo, a Milanese therapist, practises and teaches this Tchulen technique in the West.

Cipullo has perfected a system of psycho-physical healing which he calls Tara NgalSo Tchulen: the diet which promotes both the purification and strengthening of oneself owing to the detoxifying and tonifying power contained in Himalayan flowers. The practice includes meditation sessions upon the enlightened energy of the female buddhist divinity known as Tara, which has the power to heal the mind from fear, delusions and illusions, and moments dedicated to NgalSo Tantric Self-Healing, a method based upon the power of certain mantras, mudras and the visualisation of special spiritual symbols and colours, taught by T.Y.S. Lama Gangchen.

A Tara NgalSo Tchulen retreat has recently been completed on the shore of Orta Lake, at the St Joseph boarding house near Novara, Italy. For further information, please contact Losang Choe Ling study centre in Turin, Italy, Via Amedeo Peyron 33. Tel: +39-011-480142.
