Sri Lanka: in support of gentle healing methods

Organised by Medicina Alternativa, affiliated to the Open International University for Complementary Medicines, the «world congress of the new unified medicine for the third millennium» will be held from the 1st to the 3rd of December in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. The entire three day meeting will take place at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall.

«I have been a doctor for 46 years and since 38 years I have dedicated myself exclusively to the study and implementation of the techniques of alternative medicine. I have done this because I understood that allopathic medicine does not satisfy all the health needs of man», says Professor Anton Jayasuriya, the world renowned acupuncturist who founded the Open International University for Complementary Medicines. He further underlines: «medicine should treat the body and spirit of man as a whole entity, and not simply as a machine or number». And since 1962, to promote a non-violent medical culture, Professor Jayasuriya has organised congresses, courses and seminars worldwide, and offers his medical skills free of charge to the most needy. During his medical career, Anton Jayasuriya has treated without payment in Sri Lanka alone two and a half million people.

As in previous years, this time in Colombo there are expected hundreds of doctors and therapists arriving from the five continents - all convinced of the need for a gentle and peaceful medicine.

The programme of this year’s congress includes presentations on acupuncture, phytotherapy, colour therapy, crystal therapy, Qi, Chinese chiropractice, laser therapy... Amongst the speakers, Lama Gangchen Rinpoche, Tibetan lama healer, who was nominated chancellor of the Open International University for Complementary Medicines in 1995.
