Venerable Kyabje Trijang Chogtrul Rinpoche, the reincarnation of His Eminence Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang, one of the greatest Tibetan masters of our time, is in Europe for the first time. On Thursday the 24th of October 1996, He will be travelling to Italy, where, on the 25th He will be received as a guest of the Kunpen Lama Gancen Institute in Milan. A traditional Tibetan dinner will be organised in His honour, and His Eminence will offer a special blessing to everyone. On the 26th and 27th, still in Milan, He will be received by the Ghe Pel Ling Centre, to confer the Amitabha Initiation on Saturday and be offered a longlife puja on Sunday. His Eminence Trijang Dorje Chang left His body in 1981 aged 81. His extraordinary knowledge, His ability to teach and His precious activities which have so greatly contributed to the flourishing of the Lama Tsong Khapa tradition, are all signs of a fully enlightened Buddha. All the great lamas of the Gelugpa tradition were educated under His spiritual guidance. He was the junior tutor to His Holiness the XIVth Dalai Lama, the most illustrious of his disciples. Moreover, Kyabje Song Dorje Chang, Geshe Rabten, Lama Yeshe and Gonsar Rinpoche all received the transmission of the lineage from Him. He is the Root Guru of T.Y.S. Lama Gangchen, who through karmic connection is also His Eminence’s heart son. It is with immense devotion that Lama Gangchen went to see the young Trijang Chogtrul Rinpoche earlier this month, at the Tashi Rabten Centre in Letzhof, Austria. Throughout His life, Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang tirelessly turned the wheel of dharma, and we can say that the spreading of Buddha’s teachings in the West is greatly due to Him: His disciples brought the dharma to the West. In 1982 the new Kyabje Trijang Chogtrul Rinpoche was reborn into a Tibetan family in Dalhouise, North India. Officially recognised by His Holiness the XIVth Dalai Lama at the age of three, He very quickly manifested the clear signs distinguishing Him as a great master . (g. p.) |
