A multimedial research project undertaken by a Brasilian Non Governmental Organisation on tropical forest ecology, has won the third «Pirelli INTERNETional Award», which is presented annually to the best multimedial practice in the field of science and technology, sent digitally by “Ipetext”, email or CD-rom.

The prized programme (chosen from 500 entries) on the tropical forest, is realised in collaboration with the Woods Hole Research Center (WHRC). The Institute was created in 1995, in Belem - situated at the mouth of the Amazon river, and has given a substantial contribution to the development of growth policies in the Amazon region.

Adriana Moreira, president of the Institute for Environmental Research in Amazonia (Ipam), is to receive the Pirelli Award at the Italian Embassy in Brasilia.
