On May 7th, another of the many projects for world peace of Lama Gangchen officially took form: the United Peace Voices Association. The founding members are 6 enterprising singers: Simona Eugenelo, Carmen Iodice, Tiziana and Melania Ciasullo, Monica Benvenuti and Nunnei Russo. The new association aims to become a focal point for artists who are committed to transmitting a message of peace through their art.

The United Peace Voices actually formed in ‘96, as a result of an inspirational meeting between Lama Gangchen, Allen Ginsburg, the prophet of the Beat Generation, and the girls.

On stage the group perform traditional Tibetan mantras and prayers to the rythms of hip-hop, jungle and trip hop. The United Peace Voices, who have released a compact disc titled «Shide», can be seen this summer in «Peace Performance», a multi-media show in which the singers and musicians, in colourful Tibetan dress, intermingle with the traditional dances of Tibetan monks, whilst two artists of Tibetan «tangkhas» paint a peace dragon to the sound of music. On an enormous screen images of Tibet (from a video realised by Five Show Production) are also projected.

The United Peace Voices will be touring Italy this summer with dates in Riccione, July 13; Prato the 22nd, Courmayeur the 29th, Castel Sangiorgio di Macarese (Rome) the 29th, and Bologna at the beginning of August. m.c.
