Help and assistance for both
children and old people in poor countries |
||||
by Sharon Dawson Since «Help in Action» declared its intention, in March 1999, to find more financial aid for the children of Nepal, the number of adoptions at a distance has increased at great speed. Of the 1200 adoptions already in progress with the Association, the number of children sponsored in Nepal now stands at 286. This number is increasing daily thanks to the humanitarian efforts of the Italian magazine «Donna Moderna» who have motivated hundreds of their readers in the last months, to requesting information and offering help to children living in Nepal, Tibet and South India. In just 5 months (since the last donations were delivered) a sum of US$ 17,700 has already been collected, and will be distributed during the Lunar New Year celebrations in Nepal. The sponsorship money will be used primarily to cover the education fees of children whose parents would otherwise not have the financial means to enrol their children in school. For other families the money will offer a lifeline - enabling them to buy necessary basics, such as food and clothes, receive medical care and so on. Good news also for the small monks studying in Seramey School and Dokhang Khangtsen in South India, as donations collected in the past 5 months from 90 sponsors totaling US$ 6,500 will be delivered to them. The money will help to cover the costs of the daily upkeep and education of around 350 mini-monks studying in the schools.
A time to celebrate and rejoice for those
who have already found sponsors, but also a time to think about the
hundreds of other children in difficult conditions who are still waiting
for help.If you would like to participate in this project contact «Help
