Water is one of the most precious natural elements, and is the only element capable of transforming this arid environment, in one of the most forgotten parts of Tibet. Access to water will completely change and enrich the lives of the people inhabiting this area. With a simple donation - you can help give the gift of water to the entire population of Gangchen and Singma, as well as to their future generations. The total cost of this project is now estimated to be around US$ 81,000. Work is already underway! All donations, large or small, are needed urgently so that this project can continue and be completed as soon as possible. Jack Stern (a member of the team that visited Gangchen in August) is currently in Tibet to supervise the next stage of the project. A donation of 50 US$ will pay a month’s wage for a worker (it is estimated that to complete the necessary excavations the employment of 50 people for 2 months will be required). US$ 7 will buy a metre of C.S. 4” galvanised pipe (2500 metres are required), whereas US$ 2 will buy a metre of 1 1/2” pipe. Ball valves cost between US$ 30 to US$ 1.50 depending on the size. US$ 100 is needed to rent a power generator for one month. Ring filters for the potabilization plant cost US$ 312 each. UV lights 2.5 lt/sec cost US$ 1901. Photovoltaic modules cost US$ 560 (we need three to complete the project) and 1000 metres of conduit 1” HDPE pipe will cost US$ 1000... All the prices
