Church & pressure

Results of university research in USA

Peace Times 10

A team from the faculty of medicine of the university of Durham in the American state of South Carolina, have conducted an unusual study on the relation which exists between prayer and diastolic tension.

The researchers, under the directorship of Doctor Harold Koenig, established that those most assiduously involved in religious functions, have - among the local population, the lowest index of pressure and therefore run fewer risks of vascular celebral and cardiac incidents.

Fearing the ‘smiles’ of the international scientific community, the research team hastened to inform that the results relate to a sample of laboratory controlled volunteers, which were chosen in an area of southern United States where religious practices are higher than in the rest of the entire country.
