Congress in Milan for a better future

The Italian branch of the International Association of Educators for World Peace (IAEWP, Non-Governmental Organisation affiliated to the United Nations and to UNESCO, in consultative status with ECOSOC) and the Lama Gangchen World Peace Foundation (LGWPF, United Nations affiliated Non-Governmental Organisation) are organising an international conference on the theme: «Peace Education for Better Living in the Third Millennium», on the 4th of May (at 2pm) at the “Web Site” conference hall in Milan (Via Pindaro 28) .

The programme will be inaugurated by a prayer for world peace, which will see Cistercian monks from the Abbey of Chiaravalle united with the Tibetan Buddhist guests of Kunpen Lama Gangchen.

Present at the conference, along with Lama Gangchen (founder of the LGWPF and Italian chancellor of the IAEWP), will be the President of the IAEWP Charles Mercieca from America, the Secretary General of the IAEWP Surya Nath Prasad from India, and the Vice-Chancellor of IAEWP for South Asia Prof. P.R. Trivedi.

Bruno Ficili, President of the International Association for Peace Education, will speak about «Peace education: problems and prospectives». Nenad Javornik, President of the Croation Red Cross, will express her reflections on: «The significance of peace in areas of high tension and the necessity of reciprocal understanding between different cultures». Luigi Zanzi from the University of Study in Pavia will confront the theme: «Pacifism in the face of the dilema of using war to attain peace».

The conference focusing on the theme of how to propagate peace education to create a culture of non-violence in the third millennium will be preceded, on the 3rd of May (at 8pm), by a party, with the peace songs of the United Peace Voices, to at Kunpen Lama Gangchen (Via Marco Polo 13, Milan).
