«Rites of passage»

Astrologists, esoterists, artists, but also doctors, engineers and therapists gathered at the International Congress organised by the popular Italian magazine «Astra» last October in Arco in the Italian Province of Trento. Under the theme «the rites of passage», not only used to underline the astrological importance of the imminent and great transition into the year 2000, but also to reflect upon the traditional rituals putting us in touch with our inner wisdom.

Lama Michel Rinpoche was among the guests, a direct witness of conscious reincarnation, who told of his own experience: «I do not remember much of my previous life, however, my mother noted down the rather ‘strange’ things I said as a small child. When I was 3 years old we went to visit the grave of my grandfather and she recalls me saying that life was a great injustice because it caused great suffering to be born, only to then become sick, age, die and be reborn again. My mother, a professional psychotherapist, was astonished to hear me express myself in this way: for her this kind of familiarity with death and with metempsychosis were purely academic arguments which she herself looked at with scepticism and were surely not present in our daily talks. Some years later, during a pilgrimage to holy places in India with Lama Gangchen, I felt faint due to a very strong emotion, an “open eyed dream” which took me back to a previous life. I was only 8 years old and was not afraid, I felt a little weak but recovered immediately. Since then, many Tibetan masters recognised in me owing to those and other signs, the reincarnation of Drupchog Gyalwa Sangdrub, but this is another story to tell another time».

A concert by the United Peace Voices with Tibetan monks launched the cultural event and experiential seminars of the concluding day, enlivening the congress participants with dances and traditional Tibetan songs on a modern remix.
