Novelty for Russian orthodox followers |

The trains in far eastern Russia are about to launch an extraordinary new service known as the «mobile church». Stopping at village stations in the most remote parts of the Russian territory, the church train will make it possible for orthodox believers to baptise their children, celebrate marriage and benefit from all other religious services. This unusual initiative was officially announced by the national Russian press agency «Itar-Tass». The «mobile church» - which will be made up of two carriages - will come complete with altar and make its maiden voyage next March. The special religious train has been dedicated to Bishop Innocenzo. After the fall of the Soviet Union, in 1991, Russia is living a great revival in the interest and practice of religion; last Christmas alone, millions of people from all over the country, took part in the solemn spiritual celebrations. |
