Albagnano, city of peace

Peace Times 13

Nestling high above in the countryside overlooking Lake Maggiore, a few miles from the small town of Intra in Italy, Gangchen Cho Pe Ling, the new healing centre founded by Lama Gangchen in Albagnano, Bče, continues to grow and receive new visitors. Gradually a small community of peace seekers and messengers of Lama Gangchen’s teachings is forming.

The year 2000 will mark the beginning of the restructuring work of the centre, an ex-farm  house surrounded by scented pines and chestnut trees. The work will start with the making of a large gompa (meditation hall) where teachings on non formal education, Self-Healing and natural healing systems will be held, as well as residential facilities for course participants and for those wishing to complete quiet retreats. A large conference hall is also planned - open to all those wishing to work towards spreading a culture of peace through health, education, philosophy, science and economics. The first meetings have already been held in a temporary gompa, which will later be put to general use, and which presently houses some very special buddha statues: three which came from Vietnam, one from Indonesia and another still from Thailand.
